I had a nice surprise this morning. Cheri from "It's So Very Cheri" emailed me to say that our son, Tommy's room was featured on her blog. You can check it out here.
Thanks, Cheri!
Have you noticed a trend in decorating with vintage flags?
Here are some pillows made from sailing flags. I suggested to my friend in England
that she do something similar for her boat house's new décor
(and her father is an avid sailor).
These photographs were taken at Juxtaposition Home in Newport Beach, CA.
I love this store.
This flag pillow looks great on leather and with industrial style furniture.
How about making a pillow from a college pendant?
Or a Girls Scout Troop flag? Notice how they left the grommets. Nice detail.
Framed flags hung on a wall definitely make a statement.
Here are some rare antique flags that we saw on exhibit at the
Armory in New York earlier this year.
Armory in New York earlier this year.
And just last week, I saw this flag décor below at ABC Home in New York.
Looks good on the aged brick wall. Notice more sailing flags on the right?
So, what do you think about decorating with

Love them, especially the neutral tones. Love anything to do with sailboats :).
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday, Mary Ann!

ReplyDeleteMary Ann,
ReplyDeleteI love Juxtapositon! And I love all the flag pillows and decor that seems to be everywhere. I missed the exhibit at The Armory last year...great photos! And what's a trip to NYC without ABC Carpet and Home? I have a vintage flag I have been wanting to frame, but don't really have a place to put it. Great post!

Mary Ann,
ReplyDeleteWorking with a client right now that has a world map on one wall and I am working on a flag concept for a duvet, pillows, or framed art concept to present his week. It's appearing all over. What fun!

Love these flags! And that chair rocks!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with our beautiful flag, and with decorating with it in a non-Americana style that is fresh and pretty without dingy colors and that old "country" look. These photos prove it can be done beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved flags. Especially the older ones. I have my fathers from when he was in the service. The pillow are really cute! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a great themed room these could make!! The pillows and flags are awesome!!

I think they add a great masculine, clean element to a space. I like them! M.
ReplyDeleteI love the flags! I really want a framed vintage California State flag.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of using flags to decorate with. I have seen flag pillows and wall hangings but not and vintage flag decor items. Those I would REALLY be interested in.

I love the idea. I have flag pillows and wall art in my twins boys' bedroom and I never get tired of it! These are beautiful examples. x Sharon
ReplyDeleteI love the flag pillows. All of your images are so yummy and so Ralph! I tried to get my girlfriend to make one out of an old flag we found for 5.00 but she was like "no way!". "You can't cut up a flag"....I said "really"....I can. Give it to me.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea! Your photos are gorgeous. I just bought a large flag canvas to go in my son's room.
ReplyDeleteI love anything and everything made with an American flag. I found an antique flag and priced it to be framed for my home. It is pretty pricey, even wholesale. It is still in my closet! One day it will be framed and hung on my wall.
ReplyDeletePicture 5 shows a GIRL SCOUT flag, not a boy scout flag. It has the GS initials right on it. By the way, this year is the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts.

Mary Ann,
ReplyDeleteI love those flag pillows that are stuffed in that basket! So many great colors, who says we have to stick with just the American flag?
I think in the right room and depending on the way the pillow is done, I'm a fan (no strings attached to that one, right??? (c:)...the examples you showed were definitely on the fabulous end! (c:
