Take a skip through "blog land" and decorating for Autumn has been up
since the beginning of September. I just hopped on the bandwagon...
The bat sign I actually bought at a toy store in Paris years ago.
The French were unfamiliar with our Halloween and
there was a demonstration against it by high school students in Place St. Augustin
near where we lived. Something about devil worshipping...
I wanted to march holding a sign "No, it's just about the candy."
I think it is gaining a bit of popularity now (and selling candy for the grocery stores).
The terra cotta pumpkins were from Target a few years ago...
don't you miss their garden section?
Our "water" view below from these steps (nothing to do with Fall decorating),
I just appreciate it...the Pacific Ocean is just beyond the peninsula where
you see the houses. We can hear the waves at night.
Please come inside...
Pumpkins from the market and
branches from the flower stand. If you are lucky enough to have Fall
colors outside...clip some branches and bring them inside. Like Upstairs Downstairs did here.
There is a favorite little store called "Urban Gardener" that I like to pop into...
Yesterday, I treated myself to a delightful smelling candle
from there called "Pumpkin Glass."
I'd like to give YOU one too, so that your home will smell wonderfully
for Autumn and silently you will think...
"ahhh..classic casual home or is it
casual classic home or whatever...smells niiiiice!"
Please leave a comment here or on the facebook page with your email address to enter,

Thanks for being here.

Does Roger's Gardens still do their marvelous Halloween decorations? What a fun spot! And does the house on big island's south bayfront still have witches flying? Nothing like a Balboa Halloween!

Mary Ann, I love Urban Gardener! When we lived in Corona Del Mar, I used to go to their shop at Crystal Cove. They have done lots of centerpieces for me over the years. I love your cat on the tricycle ! I just bought the same one for my daughter when we were in Sonoma. My friends and I are going to Rogers Gardens in a couple of weeks. I'll have to stop by Urban Gardener. We usually go to Feathers and Where's The Party. Gayle

ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog! I used to find lots of great little things at Target (and the garden center) but the home section seems to have a lot fewer options lately.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice introduction to the fall. I am behind in decorating but yours provides such inspiration, as always. I'll have to look up the store. I love little shops like this. Thanks for such a fragrant treat! :)

ReplyDeleteI don't really do any specific fall decorating except with floral arrangements. I especially love the branches!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary Ann! I think a lot of countries think we engage in devil worship because of our Halloween. It really IS all about the candy, but I can see where they might think that with all the skulls and skeletons and witches and gore. Oh, well....!!! I didn't even know Target had a garden section! Hmmmm....I guess I just always headed for the home decor section and never gave the rest of the store much thought! ;-) Those are actual kumquat trees on your front porch, aren't they??!?! They're beautiful!!! I don't think I've ever seen them potted like that. I apparently live a VERY sheltered life...or maybe I'm just not paying close attention to the life going on around me! :-) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteFall candles are my favorite, gets me ready for the fall season, even here in HOT AZ. Do you happen to know where your friend Claire got her slipcovers for her dining room chairs? I've been searching for covers for my chairs and that would be perfect. Love your festive decor.
ReplyDeleteMary Ann, I simply can't get enough of your beautiful home. Your Fall simple touches are so fresh and elegant. And that kitchen, I keep returning for another peak at your kitchen. Carrie
ReplyDeleteThe entrance to your home is gorgeous! I've been decorating inside for fall... but haven't started on the outside yet... time to kick it into high gear! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your blog. You have given me great ideas for my own home. Please enter me in the drawing. Classic Casual Home is my treat for the week.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary Ann, Thank you for sharing your pretty Fall decor at the open House party. Love the terracota pumpkins and what a pretty view you have.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
I suppose I'm too late for the candle, but I wanted to say thank you for an idea. I bought some glittery faux squash and although I like them in a bowl, I'm thinking I might really love them in a glass jar. I hadn't seen your blog before but I've joined and will return for more views of your very lovely living room and good ideas. Thank you.
