Bundling Up for Snow in the Sierras

SNOW!

After a dry spell, there are lots of happy faces everywhere in Mammoth
the premier ski resort in the Sierra mountains.
Precarious self photo on chair lift.

This is our bed's layered winter cabin look, very different from our bedroom in Newport Beach.
The upholstered head board and base came from Williams Sonoma Home.

The bed frame used to be in our son's room at the beach with navy and white bedding for a nautical theme.  The velvet pillows were bought in Paris and I had them embroidered.

The other linens came from the Ralph Lauren outlet store here in Mammoth.
When I bought these at the outlet they were discounted but still regular price in the retail stores.

In the summer, just the reversible coverlet with different pillows (by Carleton V) is used.

So, how cute is this tiny, tabletop snowman with rosemary twig arms?
My kind of snow building effort.
Marianne from Style for Living made it.

Hey, has anyone gotten this message on their computer screen lately?

I think I'll go check out the Ralph Lauren outlet now....
OH NO!  Shoot (not what I am really thinking).
Would you look at my car?!!!
This will delay me a bit.
Not much there to photograph this time, but I did buy this candle for 75% off.

Don't forget to enter the give-away by 1/29 for these.

Good night.

  4. Beautiful! The pillows add the perfect touch for winter. I love navy blue and velvet. Looks like you are having a great time. We have very warm temps here today. Like spring time so it's hard to imagine snow. Enjoy your time!

  5. Love your place in Mammoth! Perfect for the mountains. So glad you finally got snow and how sweet are you to include the photo of my mini snowman. Our snow is now gone, except for large piles in parking lots from the plows. Wish I was there to go to the Ralph Lauren store with you once you dig your car out!

I adore your bed. WSH was one of my very favorite stores. I was so sad when they closed their stunning store in Palo Alto. I always looked forward to going there and taking in all the amazing vignettes.
Have a wonderful weekend full of skiing and apres ski activities!!!

  17. Love the look of your cabin! And so lucky you have snow in the mountains. We got about 6" last week here and then the temperatures went back up to 50 and it's all gone again. We haven't been skiing once - and I got new skis for Christmas!!

  18. Your cabin is charming, Mary Ann! It must be so wonderful to have a 'second' home where you can enjoy your winter outdoor pursuits!
    Enjoy!

  19. Oh, so jealous! When we lived in So. CA, we used to drive to Mammoth for great ski trips. Nothing beats west coast skiing - especially in the spring when you can ski without your coat sometimes. Have fun!

  21. Hi Mary ann...what a cozy charming beautiful cabin and I love love love the bed linens you chose, love the "winter look" as well as the chic "summer look"...you have it down!
Even the RL outlet store looks better over there....so much snow!! Fun, and I must say you look quite chic in your goggles, not everyone can carry them as well as you do!
I miss coming to blogland.....trying to catch up a little while I am "on a break"!

  22. Maryann, I have that red sunflower fabric tagged for a client. It is not cheap. I wish I had an outlet store near me. I would buy the pillows or a sheet to help her save money for pillows.

  23. Mary Ann,
I love Mammoth too.. By chance IS that light pole still dented in the RL factory outlet parking lot? My husband was wondering!!
Years ago, my old suburban got hit by it!!! LoL
I love to visit RL when I am up there.
Have fun, hope you get to Nevado's for dinner!

  28. Love your bedroom! If we did not rent our beach house out, I could really do some fun things....but it is unbelievable how hard they are on our unit. I hit the Polo outlet last week in Florida also.....but didn't find much.

  50. The "Bonne nuit" pillows are to die for! But what I love the most, is the intricate mix of patterns, colors and textures. To see the mix of pillows against that tufted headboard is like swimming in an ocean of eye-candy:)

  51. It was 33deg C here yesterday and looking as if it will be the same today with the addition of hot winds. The snow looks so inviting as does your stylish bedroom. You may have to settle for some gluwein by the fireside instead of shopping!
P.S. Lately, I've haven’t been visiting the blogsphere regularly. Apologies
