With colder weather, or when watching Downton Abbey,
it’s nice to have a “spot of tea.” And I really look forward to
a cappuccino in the morning.

Espresso? Cappuccino?
Wine? Perrier?
I love my Nespresso Espresso machine with frother.
The machine with frother costs about $300 (an investment, but less than many espresso/capuccino machines) and the coffee capsules are about $.55 each. Good bye Starbucks. It’s convenient and saves money in the long run.
The tray was painted with Annie Sloan’s Duck Egg Blue.
It’s hiding the annoying electrical outlet and cord.
The metal tray is an old tool carrier.
On either side of the coffee cups are glasses
half-hidden behind antiqued glass.
The back of the cabinet is painted the same color as our island in Benjamin Moore’s Fieldstone.
I love my Portmeirion mugs…I have had them for years.
They have modern look and are reasonably priced. You can buy them in either color.
Rough cut, French brown sugar cubes are a little luxury…but they make me feel as if I am having a café creme in Paris.
(I like to buy an extra box for my mom).
This non-fat organic milk makes a great froth.
I put hot water in the cup from the insta-hot tap to warm the cup (much like the British do with their tea pots) and empty it just before I make the single serve coffee.

Lovely and fabulous looking…Interesting read and inspires me to have the set of cupboards and wadrobes for my tea and coffee cups.

Did you know that the British upper classes used to pour the tea and then add milk whilst the lower classes added milk first and then the tea? This was because the lower classes had inferior china/ porcelain which would have cracked if boiling water was added directly!

I did not know that…so interesting!

I'll join you! We just got a french press and I'm thrilled with the quality of the coffee – both the freshness and the flavor. I've been eyeing up the Nespresso though and might get one of those down the line.

Love your coffee station…you got me thinking about clearing off the clutter on a countertop that just collects junk and turning it into a coffee station! My husband got me a Keurig for my birthday this year and I'm enjoying that…but you're right, it needs a designated area. Thanks for the inspiration!
Julie Taylor and Danni Greenwalt says
Great idea….I wish I had a place to do that! My kitchen is tiny…the counter space is limited….maybe my next house!

Your tea/coffee station is so neatly organized! Girl after my heart. I had an area like this in one of our previous homes and loved it…..I can't wait to do our kitchen over and incorporate a little beverage station into it. Yours is already pinned to my dream board!

I am in the process of planning exactly this sort of Station in my dining room. I was thrilled to see how you organized this space and made it work. I will send photos of mine as I work on it.

Beth, I would love to see it!!!

Mary Ann we are two peas in a pod. I discovered Nespresso machines while staying in the apartment we rented in Paris. It became a wonderful part of each day and as soon as we got home we went on line and bought one. I do the same add hot water to warm up my cup and then make a wonderful espresso. You coffee bar is wonderful, you are lucky to have the perfect spot with a sink too!! A very special morning and afternoon ritual, me and my espresso, I too have the mini biscotti. On this one thing we could be twins!! xo Kathysue

LOVE your pretty coffee/tea station! Very well appointed, simple and elegant (so you!). I'm sure that tons of your readers will be using yours as inspiration to create one for themselves! I have been wanting to add a Nespresso, but fear I need a bigger space, as I already have a Keurig, a traditional coffee maker, and all of the accoutrements, taking up quite a bit of space in my own coffee staion area of my kitchen. After reading this post, I may have to succumb and find a way to make it all work! 🙂
Have a great Sunday!
xo-Lisa
P.S. Thanks for sharing your source on the raw sugar cubes! (Something I too, always love while in Paris!)
Gail Storti says
Though I'm not a coffee drinker, I'd love to join you for tea, anytime! You're so lucky to have the perfect spot for a drink station, and you've made it so inviting and pretty. I love your tray and have always wanted to try Annie Sloan's chalk paint, but no place around me sells it! Such a great color! I'm sure your friends delight in coming over to enjoy a cup of "joe" or to sip tea with you in your chic, classic, casual home!
Mary Ann at classic•casual•home says
On Amazon (there is a link above)…I used to find them locally, but not any more…so they really are a treat.

Where did you buy the sugar cubes? I dont have a Trader Joes near me. Looks so yummy!

Bon jour! (Is that hello or good bye?! I need to study up a bit!) Any-who, I've been dragging my feet on purchasing one of these, because my husband just like black coffee, but you have sold me, I think! Looks wonderful and functional!

What a lovely drink station, with a sink and everything. This is really nice.
I've never heard of the rough brown sugar cubes and now I am just dying to have some. 🙂

I am obsessed with NESPRESSO!! I love, love and live for it! I got hooked at a client's home and then returned the favor and got my parents, my sister and my brother hooked:-) I will I had such a large dedicated area like yours. Beautiful!!
cindy says
That last shot looks so delicious! Ready to take a sip. What a perfectly functional and beautiful space, love it.
We are tea drinkers, chai daily, courtesy of husband first thing in the morning and delicious properly prepared chai (not the yucky Starbucks one). We use the same milk you do with honey, fresh ginger, cardamom and fennel, it thickens on the second boil, resulting in a creamy chai, much like cafe au lait.
I see you are into the Anne Sloan paint too! I am itching to find something else to paint with it, so fun and rather addictive.
One day away from Downton Abbey, this season is going by too quickly!
Mary Ann at classic•casual•home says
Your chai drink sounds delish!!!

Your coffee/station is beautiful! I have only a Keurig at my house, but I'm really just drinking coffee for the effect. If I tried the "experience" I know I'd be hooked!

Oh, your're killing me! I adore coffee and would love to have a Nespresso! Your coffee station is fabulous! I bet it even makes your coffee taste better! Clean, crisp and very stylish!

I just got a Nespresso U for Christmas and it is the bomb!
I don't have a great coffee shop where I live, so really it is a necessity!
I love it so much, and it is compact to boot. I have a tea/coffee station at home, but nowhere as pretty as your setup – so gorg.
Mary Ann at classic•casual•home says
Nespresso must be making a killing…getting us all hooked like this 🙂
La Dolfina says
Are those biscotti from Trader Joe's?
They are so incredible. They taste just like the ones we first discovered in Florence back in 1985 and ate by the bagful. I can't buy them too often, they are dangerously tempting and don't last more than a couple days…
Mary Ann at classic•casual•home says
YES…I think I ate the whole box myself. Tragic. But tasty. I'm not buying them for a while unless we have company.
La Dolfina says
I have the identical Citiz Nespresso and adore it!!!
I've only had it for about a month. We are so fortunate as Nespresso just opened a boutique store on Grant in SF and it is amazing!!! We buy our coffee there. I love the idea of rinsing the cup with boiling water first… Brilliant… will start doing that immediately!
Love your coffee station.
Where can I find that sugar? I had some years ago but forgot where I got it.
I love to use moo milk from Trader Joe's to make a mocha and them I sprinkle Maribelle's Aztec Hot Chocolate mix on top. It is divine!
I really don't know how I lived without my Citiz and Milk before!!!
Worth every cent of $300. I haven't been to Starbucks or Peets since it arrived.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We just got back from a long bike ride with my brother's little Maltese, Lou, along for the ride in my basket. It's beautiful in the bay area today!
XO

Mary Ann you are so right…I spend $3.95 at Starbucks pretty much every day. Don't even want to do the math on that. Just think of all the pillows I could buy if I made my own lattes at home!
