ORC Finale: Blue & White Guest Room

Welcome to the Last Day of the One Room Challenge:
where 20 bloggers have redecorated one room in six weeks.
Here's the finished product!

It started out like this...
with a blue and white ticking upholstered bed.

In this small bedroom, I want guests to feel a bit surprised
and enveloped by all the fun, leafy patterns.
By keeping the colors in the same family and
using white bedsheets and blankets, it calms the effect a bit.

As a recap, I have been doing this on a budget:
• already had the bed and light fixtures
• Stenciled the wall for about $35
• the curtain fabric was $10/yd
• painted an old mirror I already had
• the white quilt is from Target's Shabby Chic line
• the blue quilt is from a Ralph Lauren outlet about five years ago
• the hemmed stitched sheets are from Garnet Hill
(on sale--not on their website now)
Since the guest room is in blue and white,
I added some blue and white elements to the adjoining bathroom.
Here you can see the custom decorative pillows
added this week...made by Woody Liana.
Note: her shop will be restocked after she finishes a big custom order, so check back.
What I especially love about them is that they
can reverse for a different look.
The standard sham in front is made with Schumacher's "Samark and Ikat" using different parts of the pattern for the front and back.  The leaf patterned side of the 22" square is made from
Martyn Lawrence Bullard's "Kaba Kaba" in linen.
In reverse...
The paisley side of the 22" square pillow is made with a Les Indiennes linen (sorry, it's discontinued).

So, which is your favorite pillow combination?
I really can't decide.
Circle and Leaf or Stripe and Paisley?

Thank you, Linda from
Calling It Home for organizing this fun
and motivating six week challenge.

Check out what these other ladies have completed!!!

All the pillows are fantastic, and I could never decide which side to show. I had no idea Martyn B had a fabric line. Where have I been? That picture of you at the end is a great professional touch. This has been a terrific series Mary Ann - so many great tips and ideas for re - doing a room on a budget. Having reversible pillows is another great tip and one I wouldn't have thought of (which is one of the many reasons I love your blog!!!) As for which pattern I like best? I honestly don't think I could choose - they are ALL lovely but I do love the Kaba Kaba print!

  26. As I said before I want to move this room to my house!! I love both pillow combinations, I would use the paisley since it is lighter and brighter for summer and maybe even change out the front pillow to something with a little Spring in it for fun. If I had only one choice I think I like the darker version the best, but we girls love to change up our pillows. I have two sets for my family room, Spring and winter!! You did an amazing job, love every single detail. I love the restraint you use in your designs and yet they always looks so warm and inviting. You are a natural,

  55. Mary Ann, you never cease to amaze. How did you know that the leafy prints and other coordinating patterns would envelope your guests for a feeling of restful elegance? Answer: because you are gifted! I love both sides of the 22" pillows and would personally switch them around as someone else suggested, then stop by to admire the eye candy whenever I could. You've inspired me again...but first I must finish your lovely plan for my great room!
