My client, Diane, sews and makes scrap books
and wanted a space of her own.
They live in a part of Newport Beach, California
called Spyglass Hill
with views of the ocean like this…
Every time I’ve been there, it’s been foggy
(weird summer weather) so this is from
a real estate ad. Still…can you imagine waking up to this???
That is Catalina Island in the distance.
Here are some before photos.
Diane needed elbow room
Diane needed elbow room
and storage to enclose sewing materials and scrapbooks.
Here is Diane’s new desk,
designed my me and built by Adrian Schroeder.
And on the other side are new cupboards and drawers
and a space to pull out her rolling sewing table
(that Diane’s husband built for her).

The sconces, from Restoration Hardware, allow for more counter space. Diane can pin photos, fabrics and patterns on her
A linen covered castered chair for easy movement is coming soon.
The stained desk top matches the end tables on the other side of the room.

Here is what the other side of the room looked like BEFORE.
The bed frame, from another room, was moved in here with the posts cut down to feel more spacious.
I suggested that they replace the carpeting with wood flooring.
The paint color is Benjamin Moore’s Glass Slipper,
reflective of the ocean sky outside.
I also recommended this mirror for above the bed.
The sand colored linen bedding is by Ralph Lauren.
It was on sale at Macy’s,
less another 25% and then ANOTHER 15%.
DEAL! I sent Diane the link and she pulled the trigger immediately.

Good thing…it’s sold out.
The sea glass lamps are from Pottery Barn…
but the link doesn’t work anymore…might be sold out, too.
Diane wrote to me: “What I most like about the new room are that the clean lines and cool colors calm me down, allow me to organize my crazy spirit and let me actually do projects with ease! I am fortunate to be able to have met with you to direct my ideas! I just love our room AND so does my husband as you could tell today!”
Other news…our cute friend from Florida was visiting recently.
She brought us the lilies on the table.
I tucked lavender in the napkin rings…
but you could use any sprig from your garden.
The charming grey black/gray and white salad plates are by Juliska.
Thanks for visiting!
