ORC Week Four--Spray Paint Does Wonders

Welcome back to the fourth week of The One Room Challenge,
where twenty bloggers re-do a room in six weeks.
I selected our college son's room to decorate.
This was one of his lamps, broken and
repaired in a previous move.
Not so great looking.
Here you can see his room before...the tan  band on the
right lamp was actually darker than the one on the left
...just due to aging.
And here are some "Before Before" photos of his room
(before we remodeled it and added new windows and new floors.

Back to my renewed love for spray paint!
New lamps in minutes!!!

in ivory, eight feet long so that I could hang them higher.
They are lined and are on sale!

Thank you to all of you local readers and clients
who came to our moving sale on Sunday.
It was pretty crazy, wasn't it?
Everything was gone in an hour and a half.
Linda from Design in My View brought
Prosecco and I served some breakfast things...
but everyone was too franticly shopping to eat.
It makes me happy that, hopefully,
you all got a piece of my home at a good price!

Right now one of the only rooms in my home
that looks good is
Tommy's One Room Challenge Room.
Every thing else is looking pretty spare.
But next week you'll see
his gallery wall, mirror, bed curtains hung
and other things...
all leading up to the finale...hang in there!!!

I'm trying to hang in there too...moving is not easy...
even to a beautiful place like San Francisco.

Check out this week's progress with these
fine bloggers...

  3. Oh my goodness, I don't think I realized you were moving! Yikes. No stress there. ;) Looks like you are moving right along despite being in the middle of a move. My husband just mentioned to me yesterday that there's a possibility moving may be in our future and the thought of it has me stressed out beyond, so I can only imagine the reality of it! Good luck!

  7. The lamps look fab with their new coat of paint! Glad your sale was a success and I know what you mean about moving... the hard part is having your life in boxes and not feeling settles. You will come out on the other side and it will be wonderful, but for now the new normal is unsettled, so hang in there!

  8. No surprise that everything was gone so fast. I bet people wanted to buy things that were not for sale. The lamp looks amazing. I can't get over the transformation of your home. I know you have shown pictures before, but this really was quite an undertaking. Good luck with the packing and sorting.

And we both scored some great bargains....I got three of my favorite pink Raoul pillows and I could not be happier! Thanks Mary Ann!

  35. Mary Ann - You look fresh as a daisy in this photo! I look like the one who's been arranging a move, organizing a sale, and completing a One Room Challenge project? You were smart to dash on some lip color and fluff your hair. ;-)

So great to come late in the day with a bottle of bubbly for your "Open House". Meeting Alie and your brother Joe, both were equally charming and fun to buy from too. My success continued as I found more treasures at the Long Beach Flea Market (end of the day discounts were everywhere!).

Don't know your moving day... maybe there is still time to grab lunch or a walk with the dogs?

  39. Had such a busy week and keep thinking about you every time I look at my pretty things I got from your sale! I love the lamps....but just curious as to the first pic...the lamp is all beige. Then the lamps next to the bed are blue on top and bottom and beige in middle. Then the lamps are pewter color and then black!!! Did you take the original finish off and did you first spray them silver and then black? The end result if fabulous! Hope all's going well with the move. Wishing you much happiness in your new home! xoxo Gail
