Crisp and Cool

Recently, my husband, daughter and I had lunch at the new
Fig and Olive in Newport Beach, California.

There are lots of nods to olives…with olive jars, bottles and cans.

Cosy…and look at the contrast welt.

I like the lighting on the shelves.

We got there early for lunch and had this room to ourselves for a bit.

"Wave, Alie."
Ocean breezes were coming through the open doors.

Rosemary and twigs add a screen of privacy.

There's my family (through the shelves) again.

I had the lobster bisque…fun way to serve it.

Try the new Fig and Olive if you are in Newport Beach, California.

  2. One of my favorite restaurants though I have to say the one in Cali is even prettier than the ones here.....something about that Cali! I could live and dine on their assorted crostinis alone:)

  4. Looks lovely, and I see they use my favorite Luminaria battery-operated candles. Those things are amazing. They have a timer so they come on at the same time each evening and operate for 6 hours or so before shutting off. They look very realistic at night, too.

I love the name of the restaurant too. Would make cute names for dogs!

  8. Hi Mary Ann-
Thank you for sharing this awesome architecture and design. I live in the suburbs of Chicago and it's rare that I get to see such an open and airy restaurant design. I absolutely love your blog and design aesthetic! I feel like I can experience the beauty of the California lifestyle--vicariously through you. Thank you so much for that!

  19. This looks glamorous and so my kind of decor. Love it. Fun food presentation looks like too. Have you been to Archetype in St Helena? This looks so much like it I'm wondering if they were designed by the same person. Thanks for sharing. Putting this on my summer wish list. xx Kim
