Fun Random Happenings...

I like the sites in my neighborhood and the fact that someone
  has a sense of humor.
This is a shot of our coffee table before we left for Louisiana for a wedding.

While in Donaldsonville for the wedding, we had a tour of the family's sugar plantation...
Cousin Bubba gave us a tour of the modern enterprise and a taste of sugar cane.  Below is the raw sugar mountain before it's processed one last time.
This is another California cousin, Janice…having a taste of the raw delicious sugar…and she's even a dentist!

In New Orleans, we stayed at the beautiful old Roosevelt Hotel.  As we were checking in my brother said "Looks like the kind of place where vampires stay!"

This sweet goodie bag was in the hotel for us...

It was a fun wedding…I ate too much gumbo, danced a lot and didn't take any photos.

The night after the wedding, we had a lovely dinner at Roberta and Buddy's house…shrimp and grits and three kinds of desserts (I currently weigh 500 lbs.)

Roberta collects fine antique linens.  If there were any red wine stains…blame my sister.

After New Orleans, I went to Southern California to visit two clients and get Chief back (our dog was away for way too long).

We are in the San Diego airport now…  delayed flight to SFO.

So, I just sent this photo to Tommy, our son in college
…let's see if Supercuts can duplicate this look for him.

I'm also playing on Instagram…doesn't this look fun?

Come see what else is going on on Instagram.

Finally getting ready to board the plane.

What have you been up to?

  1. Well, girl you better do something with that 500 lbs.!

  2. Don't know what I love more....that you have a Cousin Bubba or the sweet red bag saying laissez le bon temps rouler. Let the good times roll! Equal amounts of charm I think. Safe travels home!

  3. Love all the randomness. That house sign is so funny. I also think that you and your cousin look alike. It sounds like a lovely way to gain weight.

  4. sounds like a fun time was had by all. your family sounds hysterical. and they have your great taste as well...those gift bags in the room and the table setting at dinner...simply perfection! glad you're home now and i'm sure chief is too :)

  5. I love the Roosevelt. You should see it decorated for Christmas. Gorgeous. We love the Sazerac bar.

  6. Thanks for sharing your trip. Enjoyed viewing the hotel. Table is exquisite. Son is so so handsome!!!

  7. Lve when hotels do the little extras. It means so much and I am sure bring a lot of people back to stay!
Very fun house sign Mary Ann! Ha!

    1. Actually, Karena, the bag was a gift from the bride and her parents.

  8. Glad your having fun,my friend went to LA and she said it was a bit cold still, hope it wasn't for you guys, That sign made me laugh! :-)

  9. Sounds like you had a fabulous time! We stayed at the Roosevelt years ago. New Orleans is such a fun place to visit...back to reality & work!!

  10. Such a fun post! I love that your cousin (a dentist;) is caught in the act eating raw sugar cane! too funny;) Nothing better than all the Southern hospitality and food in New Orleans. The gumbo is a.m.a.z.i.n.g! Thanks for sharing all of your photos! xxleslie

  11. Looks like you had a grand trip! so fun to visit family and celebrate a new union together!

  12. Nothing quite like a wedding to bring all of the family together and New Orleans is such a fun place - don't you just love wedding gift bags - so excited for those treats to add a few more pounds -safe travels home!!

  13. Great randomness! Makes me homesick. I'm a Louisiana girl transplanted to Alabama. Don't feel bad about the 500 lbs. On a recent visit to NOLA, I saw a sign at one of the museums stating: "in Louisiana there are only two times of day. Mealtime and in between." So true! Wishing you a safe return home.

  14. Cousin Bubba? For real? Glad you had fun!

  15. Mary Ann, You are adorable! What a fun look into your life....it's like "a day in the life of Mary Ann" And that photo of Tommy, I mean his look alike.....He probably took a photo of Tommy to get that haircut! Fun post!!

  16. HI Mary Ann,

I am playing catch-up on a few posts- absolutely love last years Thanksgiving table- so beautiful. And love your adventures- you have so much fun (and now craving shrimp and grits)!!

  17. Well, Mary Ann, you have had a lot going on, friend.
I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  18. Wow, looks like it was an amazing wedding and time in Louisiana! I love the funny plaque on your neighbor's home, too! :) Welcome back!

  19. No photos of the wedding? NO! Sounds like you had a great time (everyone should have a cousin Bubba, no?) Fun post ... I laughed at the plaque "nothing happened on this site" - how I am feeling this morning... I may need to post something similar in my office, haha.

  20. Looks like you had so much fun, that sugar mountain is amazing, my brother lives on a sugar plantation in Hawaii, i so love New Orleans and plan to visit again soon I hope.
    Love the neighborhood here.

Looking forward to getting to know you much better, visiting by way of Gail.

    Happy ThanksGiving

  21. I am from Natchez, MS (which is nearby) and every time I go home I weigh 500 pounds! But the food is so good you can't diet or even eat healthfully! I try to have very lean days when I get home. Love the pictures.
    Have a good Thanksgiving!

It's nice to hear from you.
