Blue and White Casual Beach Cottage

We have a new Project Design coming up this Friday, February 20th: "How To Style Your Coffee Table."  So come back to see how these stylish ladies showcase their coffee tables...
Several of the furnishings that we decorated her last home with work well here.  I wasn't there the day Patty moved, but I gave her floor plans of where things should be placed and came later to hang wall art and accessories.

We added a few new pillows...

We might purchase a small bench
to place in front of the coffee table like this one...

This is a cute little bookcase under the stairs that is also a part of the dining room.

The French doors lead to the compact family room.

Hey, Patty, looking at this photo, I think we need to move the jute rug closer to the television console as long as the two front legs of the sofa are still on the rug :)

I don't like to take my big camera when I am traveling to Southern California so I use my I-phone 5.  If you have an I-phone 6 do you think your photos are that much better?  I might need to invest in one for the blog!

My mom's birthday party yesterday was a big success and I will be posting some photos soon.  We are headed back to San Francisco today. Remember to come back on Friday for some fun inspiration for your coffee table!

Participating in February's Best Of The Nest.

  15. Hi, Mary Ann! Glad it was such a beautiful weekend for your mom's birthday. I have 2 questions for you: Where would I find a vent cover like the one in the dining room? Also, I noticed the counter in the kitchen. Is it soapstone, and if it is, does your friend have trouble with water spots? We are having a terrible time with water spots even though we have used the wax and now the mineral oil. I am wondering if it is the sun or our soft water. Any info would be helpful. BTW love the pillows...and the whole house!

    1. Nancy, check out Reggio Registers for vent covers. And for honed black granite...wipe down with Clorox Wipes...they really work on water spots. Good luck!!

  18. Absolutely adore this beach cottage and will memorize each detail for my future Coronado home!!! I’ve heard that the iPhone 6 camera is significantly better - although haven’t made it to the Apple store for trade in. Saturday’s Wall Street Journal had a great article on lenses for iPhones that improve results. I’ll forward it to you via email. LOVE this cottage!

  23. What a beautiful home - her living room is gorgeous! And I need to have a little bookcase like that under the stairs - I love unique details like that in a home. Definitely go for the iPhone 6 - my husband talked me into it and not only is the camera better but the battery life is so, so much better. It's very rare that I ever need to charge it during the day which I love.

  28. Mary Ann, OMGosh what a stunning beach home! I love the beauty of the white backdrop with those pretty pops of blue! I am crushing on the bead board wainscoting with the ceiling beams and that very uniqe under-the-staircase shelving. So many pretty architectural details in the home and the decor totally shows it all off beautifully! Fabulous job!!!!
Thank you for linking up to the first Share Your Style party and have a wonderful weekend!

  30. Another beautiful California home Mary Ann - I love the houses you share! Patty is a lucky lady to live in that beautiful abode and have your help on decorating it. I adore all the blue & white with hints of black and all that texture. So pretty!
