Classic Blue and White Living Room and Flowers Like Still Life

The plush velvet chair cushion came back from the upholsterer.  The fabric is by Timothy Corrigan for Schumacher.
Here is Jan's living room when we started...
And here it is now with the new Lee Industries sofa and chairs covered in Perennials soft indoor/outdoor fabric (bring on the grandkids--no problem).
I like how Jan's vintage bamboo chair looks from the back.

The blue and white pillows have different scenes from Schumacher's Nanjing (made by Liana).
And we put a Ralph Lauren East Indies linen stripe on the backs (Jan can reverse the pillows if she wants).  The mirror on the mantel is from Pottery Barn.  It's a good deal on sale right now.
We recovered her existing dining chairs in Asante by Barclay Butera for Kravet fabric.  She can bring them into the living room for additional seating.

The next project:
Jan's family room.  Below you can see the Pottery Barn wool rugs have already been purchased (which were a great deal on sale and now they are gone--I warned you).
Next steps for a "classic casual" global look:
I'm showing her (with my purse as an example) how leather chairs will be a classic combo like faded  jeans with a white blouse and caramel leather belt.
It may take a bit to convince her...but I don't mind.  It's fun spending time with her.

One more thing.  Last Thursday, we went to an event at the SF Legion of Honor museum.
Mindy Rosenberg designed the flowers.  Her inspiration: "late summer, early Fall colors."
To me...they were reminiscent of a still life by a master.
At the end of the event, our son Thomas helped carry the gorgeous arrangements to the van.
And Mindy gave me an arrangement to take home!
Thank you for being here.

  12. This is such great inspiration! Where does one find Perrennial indoor/outdoor fabric? I really want to put light fabric on my family room couches, but with 14 grandchildren everyone tells me I CAN'T! This sounds like something I need to find!

  13. Mary Ann, what a beautiful room, and you know how much I love blue and white. Your fabric choices are wonderful and I look forward to seeing what you do in her family room. Your design sense is exactly what I love and I always want to live in every room you do. Those flower arrangements are gorgeous and I'm happy you got to take some home.
    Happy Fall!

  14. Hi Mary Ann! Your plans for the family room caught my eye. We have a couch the same color as the leather chairs. Do you think the pillow combination you used on the grey (tan?) couch would work for a "cognac" couch, or would they lack contrast?

    Thanks!
