Feeling Like Fall Yet?

Does it feel like Fall to you?  I didn't want to let go of Summer in spite of all the Fall splash in blogland.  But yesterday it was drizzling in San Francisco (we need any rain we can get)...and I saw these fun soup tureens while
shopping at Hudson Grace for a client's new dining room.  The salesperson helped me rearrange things on this below table so I could I send a photo for scale to my client. (Do you occasionally move stuff around in stores to get a feel for things too?).

I said imagine this on your dining table filled with mini-pumpkins (or pomegranates now and green apples or lemons later).
THAT got me thinking of gourds and pumpkins for my home!  So, I stopped at the grocery store yesterday and they didn't have any yet!  I went through my photos...and realized I never really get into Fall until October, my birthday MONTH.

I saved those pumpkin shaped seeds...time to pull them out and get some sunflowers!
We used white pumpkins in my client's home.  I'm going to add some to my mantel.

Soon I will show updates on projects that are coming together like this one.  As you can see, the new Walker Zanger backsplash is in.   Everything else is purchased from Circa Lighting, West Elm mugscutting board, marble utensil holder and Dash and Albert.  The stools are from Restoration Hardware.
My friend gave us this gorgeous book about Valentino's Table settings as hostess presents for giving her daughter the Blue and White Bridal Shower.
It comes in the beautiful hardcover box and includes healthy recipes.  A nice read this past weekend when football was on non-stop.
Any Fall in your home yet??

  2. Love the look of Hudson Grace! I could lose some major money there I think! And your book - what a super smart hostess gift!! I am going to save that idea in my brain for the future.
No fall out anywhere in this house, but there are mums galore in Lowes and pumpkins in the grocery stores. We are finally getting lower temps this week, so it does have me thinking about it at least. It is always very late in coming here.

  3. Actually, I'm trying to put off Fall as long as I can! Yes, it's nice that this week is cooler and less humid, but no, I am not ready to let summer go! Too many months ahead until the next summer!!! I'm still swimming every day even though the water temp has gone down. On the other hand, I have a new pair of high boots arriving this week which will have to be broken in. But no, let's have a little bit more of summer!!!

  6. I am so ready for Fall, summer was long and hot this year and the cool air is so appealing. No Fall decor around here until we move into our new home and then it is usually white and sage green pumpkins and mums. Loved everything in this post and that book looks like a wonderful read! Enjoy the cool San Francisco breezes,

Gorgeous Fall décor, you are a good one! I am decorating for Fall, but in a sort of soft and elegant way. I am also an Oct. girl and yes, we have little pumpkins and gourds already.

  9. After I saw your beautifull Staub pumpkin cocotte in your kitchen last year, I had to finally get one at Crate & Barrel. Love it every time I walk in the kitchen & see it! Use it lots too. Scarlett sends her regards to Chief!! Happy Fall! Always enjoy your posts!

  12. Mary Ann,
Here in Irvine we got close to 1" of rain yesterday! I was doing my happy dance, we really need rain. I did buy one little pumpkin and put it in an antique blue and white dish...just a tiny nod to the season to come. My favorite season, with spring a close second. :-) I love the images you've shared. The footed white dish you showed is wonderful and would serve all of the seasons.

  13. Just yesterday morning I too felt the cool air of fall as well. But, by afternoon it was back to the California heat ;)
Looking at Fall tablescapes and mantles the past few weeks in blogland has been off putting. I'm glad to see you agree!!! Maybe it's because we're in CA, I don't know ....

  14. We got a little taste of fall over the weekend for about 24 hours and now its back to hot and humid. Ugh. I saw gourds at Whole Foods today and honestly I cant get into fall when it feels like a sauna outside. Hoping y'all get some real rain soon. What day is your birthday on in October?

  15. Hi Mary Ann, Just got home from Tahoe where we spent a wonderful week on the Lake and going on lots of hikes. I love your fall inspiration, even though it is still hot here and doesn't seem much like fall! We did get a great rain here
yesterday morning, but we missed it because we were driving home! Always love your wonderful tips and ideas to make our homes feel fresh and seasonal. Thanks...xoxo Gail

  17. My husband goes to San Francisco for business every year and I tag along to eat, drink and shop. A good day is lunch at Spruce and then shopping at Hudson Grace. I spied a beautiful tureen and walked away from it. FortunatelyI was able to get it online. It came wrapped liked you would not believe. That sucker had no chance to get broken in transit. Appreciated the effort...but undoing it took over an hour! It graces my new kitchen and reminds me of a lovely time in your adopted city.

  18. I love your fall traditions in America. We don't really have anything like that here. I might just have to become a trend setter. But we are going into Spring now so will have to be content to look at your beautiful fall decor instead! x Sharon
