Fun and Easy Ways to Address Your Holiday Cards

Annie from Most Lovely Things shows (with a video!) how she addresses her Christmas cards.  She was inspired by her address labels.

Which got me thinking about addressing our cards this year.
Here is what I came up with based on our card's typeface font.
First, I outlined a gift tag from Target
(you can make a template from heavier stock paper if you don't have a gift tag like this)
on a envelope.
And then free handed the outline again...for that "home-made" look.  And added a little red marker ink for some punch.  Easy.  Even a little uneven--makes it fun.

Here is another quick way to address cards (from last year)...
just write the last name with a Sharpie in big letters in another color.
I do about 10 to 15 cards a day--not a huge chore that way especially listening to music or watching television.  Like wrapping gifts--I sort of enjoy it.

We got the heavy stock cards from Tiny Prints this year.
This photo was taken in my brother and sister-in-law's "backyard" in the desert at Thanksgiving.

Look what is practically in my "backyard" (another out for a walk shot)...

I adore the way you are addressing your cards this year! What a wonderful idea! And one that I actually haven't seen before. I might be copying you next year! Love your photo too! You are a beautiful family! And a huge thanks for the HUGE mention with a photo no less! Back at mine....those darn things are not going to address themselves. I like your idea of 10 a day!

  11. Love the idea and how addressing envelopes has become such "a thing"...most inspiring. I think the key is giving yourself lots of time so as you said you can do a few a day, one luxury i did not allow myself this year! Tonight I was writing them out fast and furious in my gold calligraphy pen, not perfect by any means but it will suffice. Next year- Christmas planning in August LOL

    1. It's always hard, Tina, as we don't take the photo until we are all together at Thanksgiving. Compressed. And YOU have way more friends!

  16. What a cute idea - I like the idea of making the front of the envelope more festive! I'm going to use your idea to make the last name in the address red next year!

  17. I'm still working on our cards. Every year I say I'm not doing them again, but like you, I love getting them! Your envelope addressing is great and I love the idea! Can't believe you drew the second line free hand, you're good!!! I'm a bit freaked out because Christmas is a week from today! Yikes! Love all your ideas and thank you for inspiring me the whole year through with your blog! It's still my favorite and the best out there!!!

  20. Loved the family photograph. Tell Chief that the young looking blonde girl in the front—you know the one who pays your vet bills—is really the Alpha girl who has his back. I don't care how cute that girl who is holding him is. Happy holidays and let Chief know that Hope is really a possibility.

  21. Gosh, you and Annie are making me feel like such a blob - I just stick printed stickers on mine! Well not in 2016!!! I will be crafty like you two and do something special! It just seemed like it took so long when I used to hand write them, but at 10/day, that is do-able!

Thanks for a GREAT post Mary Ann!
