Laguna Beach And Other Ways to Avoid Holiday Cleanup

We had a lovely Christmas with family in San Diego.  On the drive back to San Francisco, we spent two days in Laguna Beach at the Pacific Edge Hotel.  Relaxing...just the two of us.
The hotel is not super fancy, but it's a good value and the view is amazing!
I took this video from our balcony.
Laguna is a great place to visit if you haven't been there.  I did a little exploring of the home shops, convenient by foot, and these are fun...

Tuvalu has a great beachy vibe and nice display.
Vertigo Home has cool, more modern things...
With lots of black and white...which I always like.  (Reminds me of Chief).
The Beach House is charming...
Then, we rescued Chief where he had been enjoying some quality time with his brother.

This package was waiting for me from Annie of Most Lovely Things... her hand made plaid labels!!!  She is so cool.  I'm putting the tags on my inspiration board (which could use a good de-cluttering along with the rest of the house).  Later.
Inside was this recipe book from Buvette...where we had breakfast together in NYC and it's French...and she and I like that sort of thing (you probably do, too).

She made her local friends jars of ratatouille.  Since she can't bring a jar over to me (she lives in Connecticut) ...the book.
It looks great so far!
I've taken a few Christmas decorations down.  We are having a super simple New Years celebration...going to one of our favorite Chinese restaurants here in SF ... a big round table lazy Susan sharing style.  Then, back to our house for dessert and hopefully see the fireworks over the bay from our apartment.

Speaking of views (from our kitchen window)...they had to chop down a couple more diseased trees and now we can see more of the Golden Gate Bridge.  That's where our son, Thomas played basketball with his friends today ...nice view, huh?

I know other bloggers get lots of free stuff...not me.  I never ask or want to feel obligated if I don't think I can recommend it.

But recently,  FTD emailed me offering to send a bouquet of my choice for nothing in return. I picked the one below and it's even prettier in person.  They have a better selection than what I remember from years ago.  I will definitely use them.  So great for a beautiful last minute, same day delivery gift!   Here's how it looked setting up the dessert table.
Thanks for hanging out with me
this past year.
You are the best!
 Happy 2016!!!

  1. I can't imagine having a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. I've never even seen it in person or been to SF. Have a lovely New Year's Eve. I will be reading with my pupsters snoozing alongside me; what I consider a perfect night.

  18. Totally off topic. I'm not sure you know that the lovely chef who cooked some meals for you and friends in the Bahamas is the mother of Buddy Hield, University of Oklahoma basketball player and some calling him the player of the year. The story goes an OU recruiter was in the Bahamas looking at a different player and he asked someone in the gym, "Who's that?" She answer, "That's Buddy, love." Buddy's mother is now known as "Mama Love." Here's more info: http://newsok.com/the-buddy-love-is-the-hottest-thing-in-sports/article/5470807 Since your son loves basketball, I thought he might enjoy this connection.
