Subtle Changes and SF Sites

One of my first clients in the Bay Area was Cathy.  We worked on her kitchen and new breakfast room by e-design before we moved here.  A while back, I showed you blue and white fabrics that we were considering for her valance.  This one, Schumacher Vallier Vine, a lovely linen was the favorite.  And I'm so glad we went for the large scale pattern for some bang for the buck.

About a year ago, I played with her book cases and mantel using her existing accessories
--but just took some photos this week (we are going to spruce up her master bedroom and adorable daughter's room).
I think a custom cut mirror (regular or antiqued) with an inch and a half bevel would look great in the mantel inset.  Cathy is not buying it.  That's ok.
Love these colors.

Also long ago, Cathy asked me about a light fixture for a funny spot high on the wall leading into her bedroom.  I suggested this Circa library sconce with a piece of art -- to highlight the art and illuminate the little hallway... (it's one of my favorite little spots in her house).

San Francisco is buzzing with excitement for Super Bowl 50.  The Bay Bridge has the permanent lighting show installed now for the next ten years.  We had this view at a party recently.

 It constantly changes.
While I'm watching and hearing about all the snow shoveling going on elsewhere...days like this are pretty nice!  (Remind me of this when we are packed in with fog in July).   Chief likes this perch in the park... with the view of the other bridge.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Love the light over the picture and the picture itself. Great pillows I see, too.

  6. I love the after in Cathy's family room. I could see the antique mirror looking great, maybe the idea will grow on her. You always create beauty in your design work.

I was particularly taken with the wonderful bamboo armchairs, any idea of their source, if that isn't too forward a question ? :-)

  10. Hi Mary Ann! And happy super bowl weekend! I bet the city is buzzing! I adore the fabric for the valance above Cathy's sink. Really makes the room. And the changes you made in the living room are wonderful, you really are a star at arranging shelves to look their best! The ice blue is so pretty with the white woodwork and I was wondering what color she used on the walls? Little Chief looks like the proud little man sitting in the sun on that pretty bench. Give him a hug for me!

  13. Mary Ann I love what you did with the bookcases. I am trying to styling some in my family room, and I'm struggling with them because I have bookcases in another room that are eating up all my accessories. I like how these shelves are simple and not stuffed, they have breathing room. Thanks for this perfectly timed post!
