SMALL DECOR UPDATES FOR BIG IMPACT

Hello, everyone.  I'm getting back into the groove after our vacation in Mexico and spending some time in Southern California.  Here are some things that have been happening...

In my client's rustic modern kitchen we added these Katie Pendants with Cylinders (with glass that doesn't obstruct her view of the family room).
They replaced these little, dated ones (that's the electrician below).

I warned my client about having to clean glass over a cooktop, but fortunately the cylinders are relatively easy to remove, and she didn't care.

We also replaced this kitchen nook light with something more updated and rustic by Ralph Lauren.

It is the Roark Ring Chandelier...with Edison bulbs.

We added curtain panels to the bay windows in our living room.  We needed eight long panels (a lot!) and since we are renting, I didn't want to spend too much.  These Ritva panels from IKEA do the trick of softening the windows and we can close them, too!

While I was in LA, I did a little restyling of our daughter, Alexandra's boho chic living room, but only remembered to take a photo of her bar cart with the sconces and painting that I gave her...

For a quick update, check out Pottery Barn's beautiful, new neutral pillows!  I want them.

Velvet pillow, Pinch pleat pillow, Honeycomb lumbar  Look how they dress up a brown or leather sofa!

I liked these life like hydrangeas so much...  I don't see them on line, yet...but they were in two of my local PB stores the last few days...
I bought some stem bundles and mixed them with real green, grocery store hydrangeas... This will expand future arrangements.

We are watching Chief's brother, Judge (same litter) while his mom (my sister) is on vacation.  I thought two dogs would be as easy as one.

Which is almost true, except that each one has his own idea of where he wants to walk.  And Judge (a suburb dog) is teaching Chief to bark at elevator sounds (not cool in an apartment).  But Judge (the bigger one) is calmer, sweet natured and likes affection.  We will miss him when he goes back to San Diego.

Hope you are taking it a bit easier this summer!

  3. I always love your touches and the huge impact they can have on a room.
I had to laugh about the dogs. We have 2 dogs and it seems that at least one is always up to something!
Continued fun this summer. Is it too soon to count days until autumn? :-)

  4. What lucky people to have those beams in the kitchen. The changes work really well.
I like your hydrangea idea--mixing real and fake. I have a hard time to find them at florists here, and I hate cutting the ones from the yard!

    1. The IKEA panels are OK... but I wouldn't recommend them for a permanent place.

  7. The lights look great, but you were right to warn about the upkeep! As far as I can tell there's no vent over the cooktop. I am predicting this is a lovely learning opportunity!!!! I didn't know Chief had a brother in the family. what fun!

  16. I was in PB the other day and was surprised with all of the neutral! Usually this time of year they bring out all the jewel tones right? And by the way 2 dogs are not easier that is for sure!!!
