Floors in the Works and Great Vintage Turkish Rugs

This was a dangerous situation as the separate piece of carpeting on my client's landing was free standing and loose.  And why didn't the runner come all the way down?

Enter my bad drawing...

And the final outcome, using Stark Carpet Bakerloo Charing Cross.
This is forthcoming...  Jan's tiny powder room (and adjacent laundry room).
New slate floor and bead board paneling...
I asked my husband, for a hand tied vintage Turkish rug from Splendid Rugs for my birthday...

for our master bedroom (to replace the too small, Chief chewed jute one that I have been hating everyday).  The new one is on the bottom right (that's how I tried the rugs out on my computer).

Look how fast it came via UPS all the way from Istanbul (Three days...what?)!  Photos to come.

I give Splendid Rugs on Etsy a high five...check out these other great vintage rugs.

Go on his site.  Very good prices.  I thought is was scary to buy sight unseen...but I am SO happy!  Have to take photos to show you.

  3. Those rugs are works of art. Though for the price, I'd be tempted to go to Turkey and buy them in person!

    1. They have really good prices for the U.S. But you may get them for less in France. I'm coming to Paris soon. Happy about the exchange rate for a change!

    1. It's honed gauged slate. Brazilian Black. But there are other dark varieties.

  5. I had a chair I hated and my dog chewed the arm. I was so grateful. Chief must have known you were ready for a new rug. Good dog Chief as the new rug is gorgeous.

    1. Ha! Chief also chewed my coffee table...but I keep repairing it with Minwax...sort of has a "distressed" finish. That jute rug was sort of like a rope toy he used to have.

  6. Love the slate floors! Do you think they would work in a bathroom with a walk in shower as the flooring for the entire space? Also do you mind my asking where did you purchase them?

    1. http://www.echeguren.com/ You might want smaller tiles on the shower floor.

  7. Beautiful rugs Mary Ann...Iove them all but the blue one is my favorite & I like the one you chose as well. That shipping was really fast! I had a jute rug in my bedroom before I replaced it with seagrass. Although softer, I found that jute was NOT durable, after about 4 years it started to get holes in it. Maybe you eventually would have had to replace yours anyway so does that get Chief off the hook? :)
