Fresh Indigo/White/Aged Brass Powder Room and Laundry Room--Before and After

We are getting some rain here in San Francisco and it's totally welcome (except that Chief is not crazy about it).  I hope it doesn't affect the Halloween party at the dog park this evening.

Even with a little rain, I cannot believe how gorgeous this city is this time of year!  To see my clients, I drive across the Golden Gate and Bay bridges every week (with the music cranked up)...and I am always struck by the beauty that surrounds us (and I try to remember to say a prayer of thanks).

Jan is in the East Bay and below is her tiny powder room before...
See me in the medicine cabinet?
It's next to the laundry room and was functional but it's the only downstairs bathroom.  We wanted to make it PRETTY.

And here it is now...

With Circa Lighting Symmetric Twist Single Sconce
(in antique burnished brass)
and a reasonably priced beveled
The compact sink is from Restoration Hardware.

We used Quadrille Java Grande Navy on White wallpaper.

The laundry room is just adjacent.
It had no storage.
Here it is now...
This is my favorite part...see the closet doors below?
The water heater and furnace were totally exposed
(I didn't get a before photo).
And now disguised...
Honed gauged natural slate is on the floor.
I had to talk Jan into it but once she was on board...
Jan tracked down a good source in San Francisco.
Nice work, Jan.

I'm glad that Jan is happy.

Have a fun weekend!

  2. you've outdone yourself. again. love this transformation. i've been contemplating beadboard on the bottom half of our powder room and wallpaper at the top...you've put another tick mark under the "pro" vs con list i have running in my head. this is a winner.

  4. Wow! The wainscoting really makes this work--it's bright, it's plain, it lets the wallpaper pop without bubbling over. Makes for a good balance.
You really took "OK" (seriously, it wasn't bad before, just plain) up multiple notches to awesome.
If you want to mix up your playlist, check out "Boucan" by Maître Gims, one of the top French hits right now. Also "Le Temps qu'il faut" by TAL, who's like a French cross between Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. Her big hit was "Rien n'est parfait."

    1. Hi Elizabeth...it must be the lighting as the base IS polish nickel...I like the warm undertone best with the brass.

  8. So delighted that you're having rain! What an answer to prayer!
I was in Newport Beach from South Georgia in August and found the drought concerning. I really couldn't relate until I saw it.

  13. Beautiful makeover Mary Ann! Makes me wish I had a powder room...I've seen so many gorgeous wall papers used in powder rooms lately. Yours included! I also wish I had a separate laundry room, ours is downstairs in the garage. Not pretty and a pain to get to. :/ The only positive is the exercise I get!

  26. Most people assume that commercial laundry service is expensive yet this is not the case There's so plenty of companies out there which are offering rational laundry charges. 24 hour dry cleaning
