Neutrals and Good Things I Bought At Target

Here is my new, vintage Turkish rug that I told you I was getting...
We have a set of hotel type sheets that I bought at Restoration Hardware in white with black embroidery and I wanted another set.  So, I bought significantly less expensive Cotton Hotel Sheets from Target.  I like them!  I also purchased an extra set of pillow cases.  They come embroidered in different colors, too.
Another shot of the rug...  I like the worn vintage look and feel.  It came really clean.
Tell Murat at Splendid Rugs that I sent you.
Those are the curtain panels made and given to me by Liana.  She does a lot of nice things for me and lets me bounce decorating ideas off of her.  She mentioned that she is a fan of Astier de Villatte.
So, I brought back a dish from Paris for her (actually I crammed it into Howard's luggage).  She's using it for her reading glasses...
"Where did you get those glasses?  I think I am starting to need them!" :/  I asked.

Target was her answer.
They have a cute ones like these...
Not being able to drive for two months due to the ankle injury and then being out of town...I really wanted to make a Target stop (and not just the online kind).  So, I ran over to the one in San Rafael, California.  Can you believe what a great view there is from the parking lot?!

I picked up a couple new dish towels (inspiring me to clean out the dish towel drawer).
Here are some cute things that I didn't buy... notice the black and white theme..

I figure I am going to like just about anything Nate Berkus puts his name on!
This stool would be a nice little side drink table or
in a powder room with a pedestal sink for guest towels.  Sturdy, too.  I sat on it in Target.
With this rug.
I bought this little clay pot and it works well for Trader Joe's orchids...

After I wrote this post, I noticed that Sherry Hart did a similar one.  Great minds!
You can check hers out here.

What a shocker to put on my new Target reading glasses this morning
...all those wrinkles!
This is not retouched or hair camera ready :)
But the glasses are good.

Happy Autumn!

  5. Mary Ann, you look great in the glasses! I just said to my husband 10 min ago that the wrinkles under my eyes are getting more noticeable...darn light in the bathroom! He is so sweet and disagrees with me but I know better.

Love the Nate Berkus stool...wish I had a place to put one. :/ Your Turkish rug looks beautiful! I paid well over $150 for a set of sheets from Pottery Barn awhile back and I have to say I'm not a fan. I do not like the softer ones...prefer my sheets crisp. Read the reviews on yours and they sound more like what I am looking for. I'm heading over Target's website to order a set...thanks!

    1. Well, Linda, I'm on the Target sheets now...and they do feel crisp. Like I like. Not exactly a wild Saturday night. :) But relaxing!

  6. I've never heard of "hotel sheets" as a thing. What makes sheets rise to being "hotel sheets"? Thread count? Size?
Husband and I each have a dish for keys on our entry table. Keeps the table, an antique, from getting scratched.

    1. It's just the type with the embroidery stitching. Lots of hotels used them to start.
We have a little tray for our keys too...and it's good to have a designated spot!

    1. I don't go often either, Amy, as our City Targets don't have as much as the suburban ones...which are more of a hike for me. I got the Target debit card which takes 5% off of everything.

  8. I first discovered target as a Newbie in the USA when a friend said I had to visit and took me there. I had our 18 month old daughter with us and when we arrived she had caused quite a stink in the car with a leaking diaper! I left my friend with her whilst I ran into Target to buy a new pair of shorts, little pink check ones, my first ever Target purchase. Once she was sorted out, we all went shopping together, I was hooked from that moment on, ow of course I miss it in France!

    1. It was a big deal to take our friends' kids (who lived in England at the time) to Target. I remember the little seven year old one saying in his British accent "Ah, Target, quite possibly the best store in the world!"

  10. Mary Ann, I can't believe you just turned 60 (that is what I read recently, isn't it?). You look at least many years younger! Now, about those Target sheets ... please tell us if they hold up well. In August of 2015 I received some sheets from Perfect Linens and wrote a post about them (http://mylittlebungalow.blogspot.com/2015/08/perfect-linens-special-offer.html). A year later, they are holding up beautifully and I'd like another set since I am so pleased with them, but they're pricey. If your Target sheets hold up well over time, I'd like to know!

    1. My mom gave me a card with a big 6-0 on it and I bursted into tears. But I am coping now :)
I will let you know how these sheet hold up. They do have a deep bottom sheet which fits our new taller mattress.

  14. I've got to make a Target run. That Nate. His stuff is as cool as he is. Love the glasses but dang if i don't have that same jolt to my self when i put the 2.50's on. Do i really want to see my wrinkles that clearly? No-I-don't-I-prefer-denial-instead but i like seeing my food too much so the 2.50 are staying. :) hey hope you're walking around now.

  15. Just beautiful Mary Ann! Your bedroom is perfect and what I'd like mine to look like! Ran to Target and picked up several of the kitchen flower sack towels with the farm animals. I've gotten the plain ones before, which I can't find anymore, and they are the best towels for drying dishes ever!!! Loved all the other decor items too! Lots of fun stuff to tempt me.
    Love!
