My Living Room Video Tour and A Designer Tip for Your Pillows

After Liana sent me some gorgeous pillows for my birthday, I sent her a video of how they looked.

See the charming rose blanket stitching

on Penny Morrison Varsari Blue and Pink linen.

The new pillows and this great book by Mark Sikes,
from Cindy Hattersley prompted me to restyle the coffee table.
Tip:  Get over sized down/feather filled or synthetic down inserts to fill out your dilapidated pillows... especially your Pottery Barn, West Elm or other mass market ones.

Here is the great quality source that I use (hypoallergenic, oversized to stay plump and there is free shipping for over $50).
Tell them I sent you :)

Liana said I should post a video as it shows the living room with sort of a French feel.  I felt lame doing it.  But if you watch it, you will see that Chief thinks I am giving HIM the tour.

About this time of year, when we lived in Newport Beach, I
would score magnolia branches from Debbie when she trimmed her big trees.  Now, I have to go the the SF Flower Mart...city life.
The good news is that Debbie (my college room-mate and style icon) is coming this week to keep me company while Howard is away.  We have a few plans...but will mostly be just hanging out...in this room :)

  2. Beautiful and inspiring! Can you share the fabric you used on your couches. I am finally recovering my red chairs and the sample of white denim I purchased and washed is just way too wrinkled and I know it will bug me. Looking for alternatives. Thanks!

    1. Katie, its a cotton basketweave that I got at a fabric discount place in downtown L.A. called Michael Levine. We washed it before the slipcovers were made.

  6. Gorgeous cushions and I love the magnolia branches in a vase. We have two large magnolia trees in the garden and I love to bring branches indoors, they last quite a while and at this time of year when flowers are scarce in the garden they add a big dramatic impact.

  7. I think you and Liana are a stellar combination! What a great talented, generous friend. I do think Chief was wondering why that camera was totally focused on him. Have some serious girl time in your lovely space.

  10. The video is great! I think videos and slideshows are so much fun to make. Loving that black fabric on the new pillows: is it more of a dark charcoal? Very nice. And that lumbar pillow is fabulous.

Isn't Mark D. Sikes the best? I ordered his book as soon it became available, I've already looked at it half a dozen times.
