The Project Design that we did recently, “Simple Ideas to Update Your Entry” was a lot of fun. Cindy Hattersley and I invite a different group of bloggers each time. It’s interesting to see different styles and individuality shine through.
Here is my take-away from each blogger. But their posts have much more (so please refer to them, if you haven’t already).
Susan, her husband and five children live in a small village in France. Her entrance hall was mostly just functional (hey come on…imagine all those shoes and jackets) until she organized it to be beautiful and functional. I really like the way she installed her coat hooks diagonally under the stairs.
Our French Oasis
Cindy lives on a ranch in Central California. I’ve been a house guest and love her home. She took her existing antique bench and added cool, textured pillows. She lighted the shelves with green books and boxes and natural elements…for a beautiful focal point.
Rough Luxe Lifestyle
Becky and her husband have two young children. She has a timeless, uncluttered style. I like how she has a simple but classic gold mirror in her foyer (good for last minute checks, and it expands the space) and the pretty baskets. She lists the sources, too.
Cassie also has two young children and positive outlook. She is a DIYer… and since I am not much of one…I am impressed! I love her new light fixture with the school house feel and the way she painted her door a refreshing pale blue gray.

Claire lives in Austin, Texas and is renovating their new home… a lot is in transition but look how decked out her foyer is! There is so much personality and pattern and texture here. What a welcoming gallery wall. And I love the light fixture and simple shape of the chair.

Amanda is your fun, southern girl friend with charm and a zest for life. She has classic tastes with a fresh sensibility. I am crazy about this new, tailored skirt on the foyer table. Her mom hand-painted the shades on the chandelier!
Dixie Delights
Sheila lives in Southern California and I am hoping to meet her in person one of these days! I’d love to go to one of the flea markets with her. She shows how you can get a warm, sophisticated look by mixing vintage with new… and lighter, fresh colors.
Kim did such a good job finding the right yellow paint to brighten her entry! I know it’s tough as many golds/yellows look dated in homes right now. This one makes the black accents pop (the source is in her post)…along with the fresh accent pillow and bench.
Northern California Style
Do you have enough ammunition to spruce up your foyer?
I’m in San Diego with my mom right now. Over the weekend, Howard and I attended my friend, Debbie’s daughter’s gorgeous wedding in Los Angeles. I think I got some good shots. I’m obviously not a professional photographer. And I like to check to make sure when I post photos that it’s not intrusive. But usually the people involved appreciate “reliving the experience.” I know I SURE do!
