Random Good Things and a Powder Room Makeover

Susan and her family of five live in a modern farmhouse style home.  We have lightened up her family and dining rooms and it was time to brighten and refresh her powder room.
Remember her dining room before?
I don't think I showed this shot...
And after....
more of the dining room here.

Here we were trying out wallpaper samples.
Simple wainscoting was installed...

This textured, timeless wallpaper was selected.
Phillip Jeffries Japanese Paper Weave

We kept the Kohler pedestal sink and
added industrial side pendants and a new simple mirror.

I'd still like some art above the towel bar like...
from Minted.com

I spotted the carved stool at the Anthropologie store
(sorry, sold out now).

This pretty rug is from Anthro, too.

Speaking of which, have you looked at Target rugs lately?
I took a chance ordering this wool rug online for our entry.  And I like it.  It was only $50 and hand tied.

A few months ago, Lisa flew here from Florida for some intense shopping for her living room.  I went back to Florida last week to finish the room.  The only thing holding me back from doing a full post on it is the mirror for the mantel.  It has been on back order.

But here is a sneak peak.  Lisa likes neutrals.
We bought the rug first as our jumping off point.
And here is the new Hickory Chair sofa and Cowtan and Tout fabric pillows.

Lisa gave me this book, Beloved Dog.  A great gift for dog lovers.

This is another good book by my blogging friend, Kristy.  Buy it before your summer vacation.

Thanks to everyone who read and actually bought items from my Spring Fashion post.  With the affiliate links, I make a small commission.  Basically, those are all items that I love (like the jeans) and a couple of the dresses I just bought.
And I am strongly hinting that I'd like the white Van's shoes for Mother's Day.
I am not a big clothes shopper so these kinds of posts will just be a couple times a year.  Now, pillows...that's another story :)

  2. I clean new slate. Loved the carved stool and industrial touches. Now for something totally off topic, but since it's California, I thought you might like to know about http://www.bugunderglass.com/product-category/real-framed-butterfly-displays/. They'd be great in a powder room (not a bath because of moisture). I bought some for my library/dining room that has a kind of back to nature point of view. They are beautifully made in Sonoma. They are like jewels! Fingers crossed on the Vans and I don't Chief likes the competition:What you need a book to know greatness?

  10. Great transformation of the Powder Room & Dining Room. I love the pendent lights you used above the sink. I too love Target for great, inexpensive rugs. Just purchased a bushel load of them for my current Fixer Upper. Also loved reading Slightly South of Simple. Kristy is such a talented writer!

  17. Love the powder room, MA. And that stool! Can't believe they sold out - well, yes I can, but I could have used one in our master. The Minted art is a nice touch too. It will be so pretty.
