Yes, summer in SF is a little cool/foggy…so I treated myself to candles from the grocery store and put them on the mantel.
The people at the Williams Sonoma test kitchen (right down the hill) were thinking the same thing and this “Summer In San Francisco Comfort Food” was on their Instagram.
This is the view from my friend’s place. We started our walk here near Union Square and went over to Coit Tower. See the tower in the center way in the distance? That’s it.
This was our view from Coit Tower.
Below is where we then headed up… to Russian Hill, back where I live. But first we stopped in North Beach (the Italian section) for coffee (and water).
San Francisco is a fun place to walk!
My friend, JoAnn gave us lots of ripe cherry tomatoes from her garden. So, I made this easy Bruschetta Appetizer.
- Toss tomatoes with coarsely chopped garlic, salt and pepper and olive oil.
- Roast in preheated 325 degree oven for about an hour
- Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with more salt to taste
- Serve on toasted baguette slices, garnished with basil, parsley or mint
The mixture would also be good on chicken or fish.
Have you seen The One Hundred Foot Journey movie, yet? We really loved it. Makes me want to cook Indian food.
